Kids Say/Do the Darnest Things...

Teaching piano has brought so many days of
laughter, smiles, and joy to my life.
Recently I have been writing down things my students say or do.
Either because it is hilarious or adorable or a mixture of both.
So randomly I will be posting things my students say.
I have quite a few for this post.
I have been saving them up.
Readers...get ready for a little laugh.

First Student: Lacey (6)
Lacey and I started to talk about the Jonas Brothers for some reason.
Here is how our conversation went...
Lacey: "I am not allowed to watch the Jonas Brothers because
there is kissing in it."
Me: "That's okay. Kissing is gross."
(trying to reassure her that it is not something she needs to see/do right now.)
Lacey: "NOOO! Kissing is GOOD!"
Our conversation went on...
Lacey: "But, I am allowed to watch Hannah Montana."
Me: "Oh yeah? Do you like her?"
Lacey: "Yeah! She is probably the cutest girl on earth."

Second Student: Lauren (8)
About a year ago there was a song called "My Fifth" in Laurens book.
There was a cartoon looking picture (kinda like this one) of Beethoven.
Lauren: "Who is that?"
Me: "That is Beethoven. A famous piano composer."
Lauren: "I think my mom is as old as him."
Me: (laughing) "Oh no sweetheart! He is very old. He is actually dead."
Lauren: "Oh. Well if he would've eaten his fruits and his vegetables
and didn't tell lies-he would still be alive. Because....
Jesus is coming."
At Lauren's last lesson, she was going crazy.
Maybe its because it was her birthday.
Here are two things she said...

Lauren: "Geez...you're such a disease!"

Me: "Who keeps calling your house?"
Lauren: "MY BUTT!"

Third Student: Hannah (15)
I was trying to teach Hannah how to remember the notes in both clefs.
So I was teaching her...
Treble clef space notes spell: FACE
Treble clef line notes spell: Every Good Boy Does Fine
Bass clef line notes spell: Good Boys Do Fine Always
Bass clef space notes spell: All Cows Eat Grass
Instead Hannah wanted to change the bass clef space notes to...
ALL CATS EAT GRAPES!!
She found this HILARIOUS and she was laughing for 5 minutes.
Which got me laughing.
What an interesting lesson that was.

The last one I am going to share is from
Hannah and her two sisters Sydnee (12) and Kelly (9).
They have a lot of squirrels that run by on the wall outside of their house.
Every time they see when run by they scream "SQUIRREL" and run outside.
So one day I was playing a song for the girls,
and then I stopped and turned to tell them something.
I got a quick look of a squirrel running outside and I yelled...
"SQUIRREL! SQUIRREL! SQUIRREL!"
And what do you know...
they go running outside.
This makes my day every time it happens.

I absolutely love all of my students.
They all have a special place in my heart.

Reading. Reading. and...more Reading.

When I was signing up for classes...
I guess I didn't realize how much reading this semester would consist of.
NEVER ENDING READING!!
I have four classes:

1. Biology
2. Early American Literature
3. Political Science- US Government
4. Psych- Human Growth and Development

My American Lit professor tells us on the first day...
that there will be A LOT of reading. (OH JOY!)
Which was expected, I guess.
My Biology and Psych teacher have us read the chapter before class
(which is good)
and also take a quiz online before we come to class.
Sooo...there is no getting around the reading in those classes.
Not that I was going to skip it...but I just have to stay on top of it now.
My Political Science teac
her said we don't have to have the book.
The book is just a back up and
second source if we aren't sure what is going on.
Of course right now...my books are right by me.
They are yelling my name.
"EMILY!! OPEN ME!! READ ME!!
I PROMISE YOU I AM REALLY GOOD AND INTERESTING!!"

Well I guess I should get back to my reading...
BUT before I do- here is todays random picture.

Fun-Filled-Weekend.

After being sick since Monday (and still getting over this cold),
I decided on Friday that I HAD to get out and have a fun weekend.
So here is how my weekend went...

FRIDAY:
I woke up feeling GREAT! (except for a pretty nasty cough.)
I took two showers. After the first one i fell asleep and got FUNKY hair.
SoI took another one, then I beautified myself for the BYU Volleyball Game.
While getting ready, all of a sudden I started sneezing like crazy.
I sneezed at least 20 times in 15 minutes. It was a bit ridiculous.
I thought to myself...THIS CANT BE HAPPENING!
(okay maybe I actually said it outloud...)
I decided I was still going to go to the game.
So I drugged up with...Sudafed, Singulair, Advil, and Emergen-C.
After I left, I felt GREAT! It was weird...
I think i just needed to get out.
Okay so then...I went to the BYU game with Claire, Veronica, Sam, and Paige
AND the Seacliff Ward.
It was fun...even though we lost.
After the game I went to Olive Garden with my friends.
(tasty breadstick & Spaghetti w/ Meat Sauce)
After a late dinner we went to the dance.
I will admit it was my first YSA dance (other than the YSA conference one).
I had a wonderful time.
A great end to a Friday night.

{I hope this is not too boring.}

Saturday:
I woke up feeling 100% better AND I even had a TON of energy.
After breakfast, I turned on some "pump it up" music on.
I started cleaning around the house.
I was going crazzzzzzy!
I had so much energy in me, I was dancing around while cleaning.
(is that weird? dont judge me.)
After cleaning and getting ready for the day,
I had to get homework and other things done.
BUT that didn't last long...
I met Dana and Sara and Nordy's and bought myself some TOMS :)
Then, got IN-N-OUT for my parents and I for dinner.
Then, ran some errands with my dad (like a good daughter).
After spending quality time with my dad, I went to play BOND with some friends.
I was a driver. It's not quite as much fun as running around.
BUT I didn't want to DIE or anything with being sick and having this nasty cough.
After playing a game of that I went to hang out with Jordan, Sean, and Travis.
Jordan {tried} to teach me how to skateboard.
After just talking for a while the boys want to go jacuzzi.
So we went to this random place...
Little did I know we had to hop a fence (I am no good at that).
So the boys were so kinda and lifted me over.
Since I didn't have a bathingsuit...I sat outside and just chatted with the boys.
A fun end to a Saturday night.

Sunday:
I woke up this morning and immediately showered and got ready for church.
I was ready 2 hours early (on purpose), so that I could get some reading done for school.
Church was good today. There were many wonderful testimonies born.
We had break the fast after church...and there were a TON of soups. DELISH!
Then I came home and had MORE food.
Tradition on Fast Sunday: Breakfast for Dinner with the Sister Missionaries.
Waffles. Eggs. Bacon. Sausage. Juice. Syrup. Powdered Sugar.
That just topped off the whole weekend.

Since I always have to post a picture (mainly because I love pictures)
here is a picture of Damon.
We were in THE CHILDRENS PLACE one day,
and while I was in line he said...
"Emily...look at me! I am NOW $10!!!!"
I just started laughing hysterically and had to take a picture of it.
Kids say the darnest things.
(Speaking of which...I will soon have a blog about the funny things my piano students say.)

Well that is all for tonight.
GOOD NIGHT! :)

We shopped at the Grove.
Went to the American Girl Store

School&Sick.

FIRST WEEK OF SCHOOL!!
After having a nice 6 week break-I am back at school.
Trying to get back into the groove of things.
I am sort of happy to be back in school,
BUT
I do miss just being able to hang out with my friends all day
and being able to relax
and sleep in.

Along with the first week of school...
I AM SICK!!
And it is not any fun.

I can't breathe through my nose.
I have a bad sore throat. (Sometimes I can't swallow)
Body aches sometimes.
So far...NO FEVER! I hope it stays that way.

This is probably what I look like.
Hopefully I get better soon.
I am so over this.

Soon to come: Concert pictures. Aquarium pictures.
